Book 62: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

After not reading much for six months, I burned through this entire trilogy in a little over a week. Very easy reading. This book does the world building and does it well. I was invested in seeing how the games would end.

Book 61: To Green Angel Tower by Tad Williams

Resolution of the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy. This is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. It may be a little stock but it's done well and you get engaged with most of the characters. I'll reread this again in a few years because it's in my top ten books.

Book 60: 61 Hours by Lee Child

Typical Jack Reacher.  Set in a snow storm, he has to protect a witness when the local police can't do it.  Of course, there is a secret military base that needs investigating and all the bad guys that need vanquishing. Quick and solid reading.

Book 59: Little Brother by Cory Doctoro

Youth fights back against the oppressive government after a terrorist attack.  Pretty interesting stuff, especially with the disapproval the regular folks seem to be feeling towards those in charge nowadays. Read it via Daily Lit.

Book 61: Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King

4 novellas.  Some brutal stuff here.  Murders and rape and revenge.  Finished it quickly.

Book 58: Stone of Farewell by Tad Williams

This is the second book in what is probably my all time favorite fantasy trilogy.  Simon is recovering from the dragon fight from the first book, starts to travel to meet Josua, and ends up in the last Sithi city.  All good stuff.  Nothing bad to say about this one.

Book 57: American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Good book.  Took me a while to read it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The story of an ex-con named Shadow who gets pulled into a confrontation between the old gods (think Odin and Anansi) and the new gods (the internet or media/tv).  I'm sure if I was better read, I would have gotten more out of it.  There are probably lots of references to odd gods from various cultures that I didn't pick up on.  Czernobog? Thunderbirds?  But the story was fine even without all those things.
